In this talk we will discuss how well-designed carbon and power markets can work together to support a deep decarbonisation of the economy. To do this we will examine the experience of the single electricity market in Europe and the European Emissions Trading Scheme. We will go on to consider what lessons these markets suggest for China as it advances power market reform and its national carbon market.
