BIT sponsored and sited the Fifth Session of Sino-Japanese Seminar on Disaster and Environment Risks end of last month. Theme of this meeting is “Facing a World in Climate Change: Disaster Control and Energy Safety”. Over 50 experts from the two countries took part in this three-day event in which conferences, meeting and group discussions were organized.
This seminar is an annual event, which came to existence through a 2004 joint initiative by Dr. Wei Yiming of BIT, China and Professor Okada of Kyoto University, Japan, and has functioned as a platform for promoting co-operations in social-economic modelling, disaster control, risk management and energy safety between scholars of the two sides since.
