          Prof. Xue Jinjun, Nagoya University, Gives Talk


           
          December 20, 2012, in the afternoon, invited by Professor Wei Yiming, dean of the School of Management and Economics and director of the Energy and Environmental Policy Research Center, Professor Xue Jinjun, Nagoya University, Japan, visited our school and gave a keynote speech entitled "the turning point in China's economic". The report was hosted by teacher Zhang Yuejun.
          Professor Xue started by reviewing the economic rise of China from the founding of new China to the reform and opening up. He took the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the 2010 Shanghai World Expo a sign of China's rise. Second, Professor Xue introduced a turning point in the Chinese economy, including the turning point of the income distribution, environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. He summed up the experience and lessons learned in the development of Japan, Korea and other countries, introduced the "middle-income trap" including the long-term stagnation of economic development, slow technological progress and social unrest.
          At the end of the report, Professor Xue Jin-Jun answered questions of the teachers and students, exchanged a lively discussion on the issue of the income gap in China, carbon emissions and development status.
